I've read different explanations about these, can anyone help? 1. what is angiotensin II's effect on GFR? in kaplan it says because it's more effective on efferent than afferent, it causes more constriction in effrent and therefore GFR may show only a minimal decrease, but in first aid it says because of the same mechanism GFR increases...so which one is correct? to me it seems that the GFR should increase... 2. which ion is responsible for phase 4 of pacemaker cells: decreasing k conductance (kaplan) or the increasing INa conductance(first aid)?

AngII constricts efferent...hence increases GFR. In phase 4 of pacemaker, it's the "funny channels", it's slow Na influx. (although i don't have Kaplan, seems to me from the many posts here that Kaplan makes LOTS of mistakes...both from the books and Qbank. Kinda glad i didn't waste ~$500 or so on it).

agree with young doc, but I read Kaplan and it was ok, no mistakes here

thank u all, yes I know RPF decreases but as for GFR it seems logical that it should increase, eventhough kaplan doesn't say this and as for the Na influx, I agree, but again my books are for 2002, maybe they have changed it, anyways thanks again

DR dunn in the dvd said that phase 4 in pacemaker is a gradual depolarization DECREASE K conductance, and the authors not agree because someone said influx the Ca and others influx the Na , others the combination, so dr dunn said that phase 4 is not a high yield in the exam
