Electronic Residency

I just visited www.matcharesident.com ... which claims to give you eligibility requirements of programs and thus less hassle for applicants. I have also read a few posts in this forum, that say that it is a good site. There are also some sites that say that they will edit your personal statements, tell u which programs to apply for like electronicresidency.com...

Can any one tell me from personal experience if any of the sites are authentic and helpful. I might try one of these sites...plz guide me if you have any info on these sites or any other authentic sites that actually make your application ( personal statement) better and guide you abt good programs.. I have to make a decision soon.... Thanks in advance you guys

From what I know...Matching sites arent the best idea: they give you lists, undoubtedly, but I would certainly be wary of any list like that.....but thats just because I am paranoid.

About sites providing help on personal statements...welll, dude, if you have the bucks to spare and really think that they willl add an edge to yr essay which you wont be able to do yourself - then go for it.

But tell me, unless you really suck at English, who can tell your story better than you yourself??Just try to ask yourself questions like what you want out of this whole grind of going through the match...what stars are you shooting for, and you will know what to write.

And believe me, nothing - no "professionally edited" statement looks better than one which reflects the honest longings of a hard-working heart...

Goodluck!

THanks for your advice. I suppose i have time for my own research plus these sites are very expensive. I just hoped may be they were better, but i suppose, they are just a gamble. Thanks for your advice though. Good luck to you all.

Ditto - although those aren't the words that I would use to describe them. Actually, in the USA, I'd start checking the Better Business Bureau where the company is located to see if there are are any complaints about them.

Good luck

Let me disagree with doc_droc_apurva

FYI I represent one of services (neither from the two quoted above).

I have been doing this for 6 years and beleive me just one extra sentence or lack of one in PS can make the whole world of difference. Let me illustrate this with an example. An IMG with scores in high 80's two years ago, when IM was not as bad as in the last match, applied to 70 programs and have not gotten a single interview. The reason - just one paragraph in his PS: he said that he will be looking for a cardiology fellowship. The problem was that most PDs know that cardiologu is a mission impossible for an IMG. So, nobody wants a resident who is good but most likely will be very unhappy when he finds out that he cannot get his fellowship.

There are many little tiny details like this one that can make the whole world of difference.

The best of luck!

every1 is entitled to theirs. im also to mine. i have personally seen the "lists" propogated by these sites - i didnt pay for them ofcourse. and its riddled with errors. and my friends on this very forum have had negative experiences with eship giving agencies. im not naming any1. but i assure u i can back it up. in the end its the personal decison. i wudnt do it..
