Hey guys,
I am a FMG, graduated in 2005 and applied for the 2006 match in internal medicine. I have a step 1 score of 80, step 2 -84 pass on CS, all on the first attempt. I applied to 28 programs got 7 interviews but i did not match. I have both Uk and US clinical experience and 2 of my LORs were from US attendings. A couple of attendings as well as my faculty advisor reviewed my personal statement and thought that it was pretty good. DOes anyone have any idea what i can do to enhance my application for next years match?

It seems you went in for a quicky...but still, you managed 7 interviews out of 28 applications...seems like a decent "strike-rate" to me..
Well, you are all set for this year...so as long as you do the right things - like apply early, take step 3 ASAP...and most importantly,...apply widely, to a lot of an and an extensive range of programs...I see no reason that might stop you this year!
Maybe work on yr interview skills...

Thanks for your reply. I am presently styudying for step 3 which I plan to take in the last week of October this year. I am presently working on my application and I hope for the best. Good suggestion -I will work on my interview skills. I was also wondering if it might be a case where by my scores are not competitive enough for IM.

Hi Apurva..yeah the lors are coming out..dunno what my letter writers have actually written...and it looks like this is gonna give me some form of paranoid disorder..
Hopefully I was good most of the time...so hopefully will get positive stuff outta there...

strongdoc...I really cant comment whether your scores are competitive enough for IM or not, generally its the whole application that matters and not just the scores....maybe apurva or somebody else will know better...
