It would be great if you guys can take a minute and give me some feedback into what my chances of matching for 2007 are like... here are my stats:

Carribean med school student with all my rotations done in the US. rotations (clerkships) will be completed by january, and will be graduating in June 2007. I will be writing my step 1 in mid sept, and step 2 CS and CK and november and december respectively. I have a current running GPA of 3.5 out of 4, and good reccomendation letters from some of my attendings.

I know that my chances are SLIM, provided that I DO PASS all my exams. Should I even bother applying to match in the hopes that I may even scramble? Or should I just save the money and bite the dust for 1 yr and apply in 2008? I am not picky abt the progs and dont mind FP, IM or peds. I am on a H4 visa (thru my husband who has a h1), and would need a H1/J1 visa.

I am truly touched by all the support that I see on these forums and hope that you will give me some input..

Thank you!

"patience hath sweeter fruits"...

If you can bear to wait 1 extra year (believe me, I know how hard that is), I think it would be best...instead of trying to cramp your exams up and run the risk of good but not great scores..

And in that year you will have opportunities to build a profile which I currently see as pretty strong ..with this USCE, et al..

Goodluck!
Think long-term...who knows, a year of wait might land you at a place mediocre IMGs like me only dream about!

goodluck!
