I prepared for this exam about 4 months with 3 partners, took 2 courses. Each day except weekends, 5 hours in a day. I was confident, but forgot to do many things. For example, in cases with pain I didn't ask all questions about pain. In each case I asked about nausea, vomiting, fever. I helped patients every time and tried to do all PE.
But in a neurological case I didn't do checking of gait (but I asked about it) and cerebellar signs. I was awkward though for neuro I did pretty good before my exam. I couldn't focus light during my ophthalmoscopy. Even I dont' remember how good I did it. In this case I did stregth check, reflexes, sensitivity, CN 2-12, that's all.
Patients are friendly and shy. 2 of my patients with trauma in the past were confused when I politely insisted to ask on their home safety, mood, depression...
My English wasn't perfect though I tried to pronounce very good. But instead "pot" - marijuvana, I said "pal". And what concerns me very much. When I said "bye" to my patient laying down in pain, I slightly touched her leg. I don't know why I did this. It was my first patient, and I was very tense. How do you think, is it a serious mistake?
Regarding patient notes. Everything was like unreal. I prepared hardly, but when I started to write, I couldn't remember how to write some work-up correctly and had 2-3 grammar mistakes. Though I know how to write them correcly. My suggestion: write PN as much as possible.

Hi upita
With your preparing time i think u r very well-prepared for CS

Did u have enough time for cases
Thanks & all the best to your result.

Thank you, jmn.
Yes, they asked me and I changed my sentences. Probably, they test our english. Also I tried to consult in each case and promised to do my best therefore they could rely on me. I expalined all my Dif Ds and they listened to me very carefully. One patient strated to cry when I said his diagnosis, but I asked: "Why are you so afraid of this?". He stopped and explained. Then I reassures him that it's treatable. He was glad and smily again.
But also, be aware, there are many real patients or like real. With real signs. Listen to lungs carefully, look in their mouth when needed and examine all PE as you do in life. Never smile except the beginning and end. Play as you can, be calm as you can.
GL to you too.

Hi

I took my exam in 18 july , unfortunately 2 days after they decided to change their policy but they never told us any where how they are scoring us with the new policy and of course they are going to report it very late too, I have 2 qs

Have u heard from any where that how they score us ( previously they were saying that if some body fails in 3 cases still has chance to pass but with the new method nobody knows what will happen)

do u know when we can use oasis trick ,

I feel so bad about my exam I forgot bunch of qs to ask and 3 to 4 cases I didn't get the chance to close the encounter and give the differentials to patient

as soon as my p exam finished the proctors knocked the door and i had to say just bye and i ll be back soon,I am so depressed

Guys, don't listen to who prepared for less than 1.5 month.
Criteria are changed. It's very risky to hope only for success. Take some courses. They cost it.
I got my pass today. So lovely! nod

you dont need courses. only FA and UW are more than enough. i studied only 10 days wit 2 hrs per day. took my exam in august.
i passed even though i felt my exam went so so.
i think courses are a total waste of money.
just stick to UW and FA.

Hi Upita

Congrats! I tried Oasis but it let me to reapply again. Oasis was updated on 11th Oct. I think, I am the looser. How reliable is Oasis? Should I apply again before I receive My result by mail. Please suggest... I did everything like knocking door, greeting, washing hands, draping, helping pt. in getting up except in first case, in that I was short of time could not complete my physical exam. proctor came in.

hello ravi!

when you say that oasis was updated and that it let you reapply, did you do the ff steps?

1) sign in to oasis

2) click on USMLE score report (on the left column)

3) on the line that says Step 2 CS it should say "score reported October 11"

4) log out oasis

5) log in IWA

6) enter ecfmg/usmle ID and password

7) apply for CS. if you passed, it will say : Our records indicate that you have already passed Step2 CS or the ECFMG Clinical Skills Assessment (CSA)...etc... etc...

Good luck!
