cong CMV causes calcification same as cong toxop. in acqd toxop, there is calci but i dont know about acqd cmv. in the AIDS pt, there will be ring enhancing with toxop. neurocysti will probably ahve a hx of a sheep farmer or someone who eats poorly cooked pork. neurocyt is also ring enhancing. i am not sure about CMV. cmv is a virus so it may have inclusion bodies????

a lot of times more clues will be given in the history to help in differentiating conditons.

vow this is such a cool thread!!
u merit a special prayer ..yet agian!!

well one thing
wudnt the sheep farmser 9 with dog ) be suggestive of echonococcus..
neurocysticercosis is due to t solium so that wud be the poorly cooked pork!
i read that the reason why periventricular calcifications occur is due to the tropism of these organisms for ependymal cells... so iguess they wud be present in both congenital and acquired forms

good luck
