A research scientist completed sequencing the whole genome of a Gram positive bacteria which can not grow in presence of oxygen. The whole genome was sequenced by shot-gun method, which produced 153 contigs. He filled the gaps by doing PCR. The genome contains 3.4 MB nucleotides and 2800 ORFs (Open reading frame). This bacteria has a unique two-component gene regulatory system, named VirR/VirS. He constructed a VirR mutant by double cross over. He now wants to see the impact of the mutation at genomic level. Which of the following procedure he can use to investigate the expression profile

a. Northern blot analysis
b. Southern blot analysis
c. Restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP)
d. Dot-blot experiment
e. DNA chip experiment
f. Western blot analysis.
g. Polymerase chain reaction
h. Mass spectrometry
i. Liquid chromatography
j. Pulse field gel electrophoresis

Expression profile means all the tests checking for the mere presence of the gene are ruled out.
so wud we chose northern for RNA or western for Protein??

I dont know the answer.

I will go with E - it is the only way to SYSTEMICALLY study expression profile.
