hi friends...i have been looking for an observership for a couple of months...i seem to be getting the same negative response...
how does one get into observership??is there any method (other than knowing someone in the hospital..) to get into an observership??
many programs are asking for it...sadsad

thanks for the reply...

i have been calling individual programs...they either dont know what an observership is...or they dont offer one...
well, i have been trying in kansas and now nebraska...do u know of any places in omaha,nebraska which offer observerships??

I've heard, there is some in FL, try to catch Mount Sinai there

Try as observeship, elective, visitor physician, etc. Have in mind that this is a very difficult time, almost everybody applying to 2007 match are in the same quest. Besides knowing a doc from the hospital, direct contact is the only other way I know. In Cleveland Clinic, Jackson Memorial, Mayo Clinic, and many others have programs for foreign doctors, but takes time for your application to be processed, even a whole year... Good luck

nebraska is pretty img unfriendly.. no im progs of its own.. i suggest u should look further away..

I wouldn't say that about Nebraska - I know three physicians in just the last two years that have gone to Nebraska for training.

And they have a great football team.

And no, I'm not in Nebraska, but I drove through the state once...

52 if you count Mexico and Canada. 53 with Puerto Rico. (Very tongue and in cheek and nothing against those places. Love Canada and Mexico - haven't been to Puerto Rico....yet.

can i apply to observerships with only my step 1 scores/ or do i have to be ecfmg certified? can i apply by email/ i live outside the us (img) , so do i wait until i am in the us to begin applying?

apply atleast 6 months before you anticipate doing observerships.. no ecfmg certificate required.. no usmle score requirements.. best of luck
