Antemortem clot/ thrombosis is not easily separable from the vessel wall because of the nature of the pathology

Postmortem clot separates because it is just a clot mildly stuck to the vessel

lines of zahn are alternating areas of darkness and paleness seen in antemortem clot
but postmortem clot is uniform darkness in bottom and paleness on top
