Hi friends i really wonder if u all think kaplan LN for biochem is sufficient for usmle as l was doing some mcqs after completing 1st 3 chapter from it(mol.bio)i found them incomplete... they are juz so superficial that not even one mcqs did they ans. ...
plzzz help me what else i shud use for biochemistry..i was thinking to buy lippincotts,now???

Hi
I think they are fairly well and board relevant. I think using detailed text is of no benefit. You should focus on exam related material which is quite sufficient from LN. I had done Lippincott earlier and the text is too detailed and you just keep on reading it without knowing what is tested on the boards if you are a new test taker. I would suggest you to suffice on that and do more and more mcqs and read the explainations which will further clear your concepts.

biocham is one subject which kaplan is perfect for!,,,dont worry abt the end of chapter MCQs..they r more of learnin tools than reflective of what-u-shud-know-after-thechaps-over!
DO the videos!! the 2 most essential ones are biochem and BS

yes i m new test taker juz started studying few days back so got confused that was not juz mcqs after each chapter which made me miserable but at biochemistry forum and kaplan qbook as well bcoz questions i tried to solve werer from those 3 chapters i studied but material they asked was not there.anyway i will keep ur this valuable advice and work and study accordingly....!so i am not buying lippincotts.....!
dear study_ing---i dont have videos rt now but hv ordered will do that as soon as they come and thanx i will do biochem and BS neatly  thank u soo much!

i think Biochem kaplan LN is the best of the serie. it is right to the point and very well written.
don`t freak out when doing the end-of-the-chapter MCQs. as study_ing said , these are mostly to challenge you to try to see things from a different angle and there are for learning. and this book was a great asset for me on the exam.
avoid the temptation of studying from more sources, instead repeat the LN and do lots of MCQs and read the explanations.

Thanx dragonfly for ur contribution and yep i will try to focus on juz one book instead refering to too many books...and i hv already started to study by heart from KLN for biochemistry altho i didnt find it very good earlier but as u all already had done biochem form KLN only and think its board relevent and very goodd i m considering KLN only......!
