Hello everyone. I was wondering what your experience has been with kaplan LN genetics, did you find it enough? did you have to supplement from another source? if so, which one do you think does a good job explaining concepts? I sometimes find that the concepts are not explained well enough to tackle questions . your feed-back will be appreciated

Thanks Robin, I'm not quiet sure why it's not coming together yet. maybe because it's my first reading and my background in genetics isn't that good

i had a virtually non-existent background in genetics and i finally figured it out. took me a while but i did it. just relax and set your mind to kaplan and you will understand it. i got a 56% in qbank and i got an asterisk in NBME. BUT if you will like more explanation you may buy medical genetics by jorde, carey, bamshad, white. i bought the second edition (2000). dont bother buying the newest one. I read it initially then i had the boldness to go back to kaplan cos i did not have enough time to read the book and i eventually understood it. good luck

Thank you so much Tolito and Robin. I think the first read left me confused and anxious as it wasn't very thourough or focused, but things should eventually clear up with repetition and proper understanding. Thanks again guys

I also have a question about genetics. Would be very thankful if someone inform me on this topic. I started my studies from Lipp. biochem 3rd Ed. It has some genetics at the end of the book. Is it ok for exam? Any advice for quick supplement? Thank you very much in advance!

I am not using lippincott for biochemistry but as far as I know it doesn't have a complete genetics section.I've read people complement with HY cell and molecular biology if you don't want to go for the big genetic books like "medical genetics".Maybe someone who used both sources can confirm/ contradict this ?
