A 28 years- old woman drinks 2-3 pegs of wine while she goes to bed. She can remember that her father also have the same habit and eventually became a drinker. She is afraid of whether she is becoming like her father. That’s why she came to the physician. What will be his opinion??

Again sorry that forget the options.....

Family history of alcoholism puts the patient at increased risk.
But alcoholism occurs when the drinking interferes with normal life or functioning. It does not mean she is an alcoholic if she drinks 1-2 drinks per day... that can be totally normal.

cos she is at increased risk, then habituation will lead to more alcohol consumption and then she drinks not only at bedtime but at all times....> eventual alcoholism. remember that the more she drinks, the more her liver gets used to it and the more she would have to drink to get the same 'pleasurable' effect. so i would advise her to quit nightly drinks but allow her the ocasional social drinks.
