Ok, I know Glucose is normal in viral meningitis, but Goljan says Herpes and Mumps are the EXCEPTION! So would this mean it's LOW (like in bacterial)????

there is a whole long list of conditions that cause low csf glu.
it looks like best thing to learn is that normal glucose is seen in viral meningitis apart from mump and herpes meningoencephalitis. all other conditions cause low csf glu.

one non-viral cause of normal csf glu is syphilis ( not a virus by any chance!!!)

sub acute miningitis coused by syphyilis has low csf glucose like other bacterial meningitis,what makes it different from the other bacterial meningitis is predominance of lymphocytes in csf than neutrophils.( same is true for M.tb meningitis)
