Hi:-) I plan to take USMLE Step 1 around July-August 2004. I ordered the Kaplan Home Study kit since its the one I can afford for now. That will be my review material plus the others: BRS, High yield, Lippincot, Jawetz, etc. Any idea if the Kaplan Home Study kit is enough?

The study kit program is good but the notes from Kaplan are a better guide to study, beside your other books, they have many questions after each chapter but definitively Kaplan material is good, well just for pathology you got to get Goljan notes.

Good luck.

Well Kaplan Medical USMLE Step 1 Home Study Program cost $499.00, you could have found the notes for a lesser price, but thats ok.

hi... i think the 7 books goes with the webprep... since I did not enroll in the webprep... I just bought the home study kit... but I didn't know yet that they sell the 7 books in ebay during that time. Well... the so far... I like the home study kit. I study First Aid and the Homestudy kit... both are ok i think... it just depends what would you really prefer. Good luck grin

it is in paragraph form with some illustrations. But there is an outline form at the side. It has some tables too. Its brief and concise in its explanations. So if in case you have graduated very long time ago... I suggest that you read it and if you don't understand something... back it up with other books like lippincott biochem, etc. Also... if you got hold of kaplan notes or home study kit... try to get the Goljan notes and lectures and BRS for patho. I heard the kaplan books are not that complete for patho. Good luck

Well... there are indeed a lot of kinds of kalplan notes. Some got 8 books... 1 Q book then 7 review books (Anatomy, Physio, Biochem, etc). Some got 3 volumes... I think. The webprep I think comes with the 7 books and 1 Q book. Those books are per subject. What I got is the home study kit... which has 2 volumes and 1 q book with USMLE Step 1 simulated exam CD-Rom. The 1st volume are General Principles and 2nd vol. is Organ systems. Home Study Kit is formatted in a systemic approach rather than per subject. I hope I was a help
