it finally came today, 6 weeks after my step. the wait was a killer but it was so worth it.... it's 99/254..... Thank God, after such a horrible exam experience. I even doubted NBME, but I guess they ARE good predictors in the end, no matter how bad you feel after the exam. Thanks to all my friends here on the forum and good luck to all of you!

Thank you, everybody! cyra, I know u have the exam in about 2 weeks.... for me this was almost a chilling time, I didn't study my butt off in the last week. do whatever big things you have on the list this week, and leave the next one for brushing up and doing a few qs everyday, to keep you warmed up. use the last week for getting your strength and energy back, you'll need a lot a fuel on that day. GOOD LUCK! and stay confident. drk1980, thank u so much! I know I must have scared people, I didn't even want to post that exp, but I think the point of my story in the end is that no matter how u felt during the exam, if u got good scores on the assesment tests (kaplan sim, nbme), u should be confident. i didn't know that. now I do. epica, thanks, I took step 1 last year, I got 99/247 TSP thanks so much and good luck with the CS result, we'll probably get that one at the same time also, we had close test dates. all the best with the residency application! ... a real step 4.. shumaila, thank you and good luck with your prep!

Thank you all for your nice words! it means a lot to me. epica, I didn't take any kaplan course. I used kaplan books and studied at home for about 6 months. I was lucky enough not to have to go to work everyday... chickimi, I took kaplan simulated first, about 2 weeks before my exam I think, then NBME 1 week before, and USMLE CD 4 days before exam. Good luck with the last weeks of prep, and all the best. I would suggest to do kaplan sim exactly how it sounds...simulating the real exam, within 9 hours, even though you can't read explanations, it gets you a feel of how it'll be that day, it allows you to build some stamina, and it will assess you better than if you take it block by block as a study tool. sima, you made me smile, and I think you're in the first category: you're here on this forum, you're studying for the steps, you ARE making things happen. all the best!

Congratulations Alina! Where are you at? Does it normally take 6 weeks to get the results now or are you out of the country and the score report took a while before it got to you? Thanks and congratulations again!

I live in the US, and it took 3-4 days for the letter to get here. but they updated my score on oasis late, in the 5th week. I took the exam on june 12, they updated on july 12, and got the score in the mail on the 17th.

shumaila, I didn't spend too much time looking at CTs, XR, EKGs, I did look at derma pictures on internet atlases when I was reading derma for the first time. don;t know how much it helped in the actual exam, but it sure helped in learning. I can't tell about shape, but make sure you read kaplan at least once more and that you take notes of the qs u got wrong in UW so that you can revise them later for as long as needed. don't worry about the scores u get now in UW, the important ones are NBM, which u'll do at the end of ur prep, when u know u did all u could. I did qbank, I thought it was helpful, but I guess it depends on each person. step 1 qs....not really, not straightforward at least, if any, so I wouldn't stress too much over that. good luck and do your best, your way.

I graduated in 2005....I'm sorry to hear about your step 1, what I used for it was kaplan series and HY series(histology, psychiatry and neuroanatomy are very good), some BRS (physio and pathology), lippincot biochem, javetz for microbiology and goljan which to me was a must read and listen. good luck for next time, don't lose hope, and put all u got into it. you'll get there!
