B, the Q doesn't say she needs diuretics medication.

alkalinizing her urine will make her precipitate more calcium. remember mech for proteus and staghorn calculi. thiazides will increase calcium reabsorption thereby reducing risk for precipitation. it may worsen hypercalcemia though.

just for the sake of completion what kinds of stones are ppted by

1) acidic

2) alkaline urine



1) uric acid, cystine and calcium oxalate

2)Ca phosphate and struvite...
