how can you get residency in Canada? is USMLE valid there? If not, what would be the equivalent for USMLE in Canada? thanks,

The USMLE is not valid for Canada, you need to take the MCCEE and MCCQE, get more info at: mcc.ca

USMLE Steps 1 & 2 is also part of the licensure process for foreign-trained doctors looking to practise medicine in New Zealand. Candidates should have passed the United States Medical Licensing Examination - USMLE Steps 1 & 2 or its equivalent, e.g. FMGEMS basic medical science and clinical science within the last five years before they can sit for the clinical component of NZREX.
