HEY GUYS CAN SOME BODY EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT HETEROPLASMY IS?

Has to do with mitochondrial inheritance. A typical cell contains hundreds of mitochondria in it's cytoplasm. Heteroplasmy refers to the fact that only some of the mitochondria will be affected by a specific mutation. This will also led to a variable expression in mitochondrial diseases. Such as Leber hereditary optic neuropathy, MELAS and myoclonic epilepsy.
