Hey all, I think I may have d/l the wrong things from here.... when I opened up the files from one of the earlier posts with free downloads, I saw that they were the Kaplan Lecture Notes. The thing is, a friend of mine studied with the Kaplan books caled "USMLE Step 1 Review" that were two huge volumes: Vol 1 was "General Principles," Vol 2 was "Organ Systems." That was what i was thinking I would find Since I don't have those books to compare against what I downloaded, I am not sure if they are the same thing!! YIKES! Hers were from 2002 and were arranged by organ system (not concept like 'anatomy' or physiology like in '04 LN), so it's possible that they just changed the packaging of the material. However, I am worried that they are actually different study materials... Since I can't listen to the actual lectures, the LN won't be that helpful to me... but I do still want some sort of "master reference" for study, because First Aid is too sparse for me, and my class notes from school are terrible (not boards-related at all, almost). She said that the books were good, but she sold them off already.... Can anyone help clear this up please?? Are they the same?? If not, is there anywhere to find the text-notes instead of the lecture-notes? Sorry for the nervous-med-student overtone, guys Thanks for your help!

you have got the right source - a subject-based 'Kaplan Lecture Notes'; you don't need 'Kaplan Home Study Program'; if you would find your 'Kaplan Lecture Notes' insufficient you can supplement it with top-rated review books for every subject - that's much better choice than too expensive 'Kaplan Home Study Program' which, I think, isn't very helpful - read my comment at: http://www.prep4usmle.com/resources/thread/372

Hi p53, coolsuch, Thank you so much for your input. It's good to know what's what out there, because otherwise it seems overwhelming. The info was pretty helpful-- I was about to start looking up where to buy the books. coolsuch-- just got done about 1 mo ago! I think I will take it in Sept, but I am not sure if I will push my date back by 1 wk. p53-- I read that comment you wrote-- thank you! I didn't even realize that part of the forum existed. I am generally worried about over-studying the minutia without focusing on the "High Yield" stuff. Based on your comments, I think I will stick to the LN, even though I am not listening to the lectures, and supplement with First Aid overall and BRS for Physio and Path. I am thinking about using Goljan, but we'll see what I have time for. I wish you very stong scores!!
