is tolerance of b lymphocytes and "selection of t cells" the the same thing, but with differnt cell types? thanks

i'm a fool. can someone please help me with the concept? i dont get this..the b cells become tolerant to self? ie no autoimmunity? what is positive wselection of t cells? or negative selection for that matter...thanks eveyone.
