should i untie the gown each time i listen to the heart or lungs, or can i just ask the sp to lift his gown up so i can listen to his lungs ?

Dont ever do that. Never expose any part of the SP which is not necessary for the physical. especially asking the SP to lift up his gown all the way up exposing both the adb and the chest. and alo its easier and its respectful draping when you just untie and expose only that part of the body which you are examining.
