A 45 year old woman with rhuematoid arthritis calls the physician on a Saturday mornin because she cannot turn the bathroom faucet due to pain and weakness in her hands and wrists she is tearful and says."My husband has already left for work and my hands are too weak to turn the water on,it hurts too much and now I can't even take a bath " Which of the following is most appropiate response ?

a.-"come to the office right away and I will give you a cortisone shot "
b.-" I know this must be difficult,perhaps a plumber may be able to help you"
c.-"I sympathize with you,unfortunately,it looks like your only option is to wait until your husnabd comes home "

d.-"many people with rheumatoid arthritis have difficulty turning faucets,perhaps you would be interested in joining a support group"

e.-"people with rheumatoid arthritis often feel that their independence has been los because of their pain,perhaps a tool with a long handle would help"

answer-e- this is an answer that shows the doc earning his paycheck and using a smart cognitive "leverage like" physics response. {he dealt directly with the problem} any idiot with some hair could say in so many words " haha wait till your husband gets home". Moral of the story-- Be a PROBLEM SOLVER! -instead of being inefficient or too complacent.

What part of Behavioral Science is it testing .. i Mean "E" looks fine as a physians responsibilities .. but it may be some sort of Defence Mechanism ? and the Right call will be "D" Well my answer is "D"

because d postpones the soultion. it wont help her now. the patient and the problem come first. d is a suggestion to be given, later in the counselling but not at this point

answer-d doesnt address current "real time: problem. support groups could meet once or twice a month, {may as well tell her to go to Mars} study_ing's above response is correct.

I still think the real problem is the woman depression, I believe that she will find the way to turning faucets, I don't see her that dumb, her call is not asking for bathing, instead she is crying and need psicological support.

For me the good answer is D

If was in her situation and my doc told me to join a support group I would be pretty pissed! I think theres a time and a place to discuss support groups and this certainly doesent seem to be the right time!

I guess I would go for E although no answer seems to be definitely correct!
