hi maverick, oh, now i remember you, you changed your avatar, that's why i didn't recognize you. you are also a surgery fan. . are you planning to apply to surgery only or IM too????. ANY OTHER IDEA ABOUT THE POST GUYS? is it recommendable to apply to both or only prelim or categorical? so, in IM, definitely we shouldn't do it??? maverick: maybe we could exchange some information about programs and their requirements. if you're interested, send me a PM. thanks guys.

superabood: they pay you as a first year resident. Fees: only to apply to the programs and all that stuff.

thank alot, chemamr so if I fail to get G.surgery resedency, it's better to apply for prim surgery(PGY1), to make better chances for resedency next year, & I'll B paid is that right?, so what's its disadvantages

i think if you are aiming to surgery, you can apply to preliminary and categorical as many people suggest the next match. US residents of any speciality are always paid during the residency (5 years in general surgery).

Hi everyone! sorry about staying out of all the action here. Just finished my steps and keeping fingers crossed for a surgery match this coming year. for surgery- check both boxes in application (prelim and categorical) at no extra cost. for IM- no prelims, apply categoricals only. (info sourced from an old post with the reply from our dearest bbb)

and no resident goes unpaid.... RESIDENT (prelim/categorical)= Paid work horse! Not too sure abt the Z4 though.... that's somewhat beyond the reach of a PGY1. Maybe in PGY2 or PGY3.... if you save enough....
