Hi, I´m headin for 2007 Match. I passed Step 1 in 11/2004,score 203, Step 2CK in 07/2005,score 201, Step 2 CSfor second attempt May 2006. I´m IMG from Czech republic, Europe. I´ve been working as a surgeon in czech hospital since 10/2006 and intend to get away next year. I´m 25., not familiar with residency programs, their requirements. I´d like to get residency in surgery but also know I have bad scores, I would accept any residency program, family practise program too, wh ynot. Do you guys have any ideas where to apply? I´d like to go west, California, Washington, Oregon ,Montana or Florida as well. Any links to residency programs, their requirements?Thanks.

all the areas u have mentioned are img unfriendly.. not sure if montana has a program.. its students usually land up in uni of washington..
surg wud be tuf to crack but ur experience will help..
no1 can advise u which speciality to do but fp and psychi are considered to be easy..
about progs u have to inquire individually.. do not trust any list or advice..

Thank you, that was where not to go So which states are IMG friendly, where to apply to be almost sure to get residency, I would apply for one or two let´s say very low programs to get any for sure.

Ah, the Czech Republic! Prague - beautiful city! Much nicer than Paris. Stayed with my friends family in Ruzemberok. Great area. Loved the country - so friendly!

Thanks BBB, I hope I´ll get some good residency. Just 3,a.m., woken up to manage patient,oooh I´m drowsy Do You think that surgery is out of my reach? USMLE scores are not so relevant to me, considering for example my lack of study sources, nobody knows. Which specialties are less competitive?

Petr - the closest that I have been to a surgery residency is sitting next to that coordinator at a meeting. All my experience has been in Internal Medicine.
