Is Neisseria species catalase positive?

did you mean oxidase positive

no.
I know it is oxidase positive.

I saw in a kap chart that it is Catalase positive.. wondering if its correct.

Catalase positive

Staphyloccocus and Enterobacteriaceae all of them


Oxidase positive

_neisseria

-pseudomona

-vibrio

maybe a printing error ?

The catalase positive organisms that I know about are:
SPACE:

-Staph aureus
-Pseudomonas aeuruginosa
-Aspergillus
-Candida
-Enterobacteriaceae, especially Klebsiella

as stated in Kap...

but later in the flow charts it says Neisseria species is also Catalase +....

So... is it?

By the way it says:
Catalase + AND Oxidase +

And Oxidase + organisms are:
VP CHN

Vibrio
Pseudomonas
Campylobacter
Helicobacter
Neisseria

(Enterocacteriae are oxidase negative)

N. gonorrohoeae is catalase AND oxidase positive. I always do both on this organism.

M. catarrhalis is also catalase positive. It's a good clue if you have a colony you're suspicious of on your respiratory cultures.
