METHIMAZOLE---thyroid HORMONE RECEPTOR ATAGONIST..?? -IODINE uptake ---radioactive I- uptake incresed to desroy the gland) I- to I * (thyroid peroxidase inhibiters ) -DRUGS ACTING -propylthiouracil and methimazole. Proteolysis( release of hormones)--- Inhibited by IODIDE salts. PERIPHERAL conversion T4 to T3 -- inhibited by IPODATE, beta blockers.
