maternal component=decidua basalis (portin of endometrium)

fetal component= tertiary chorionic villi

if they ask abt placenta as a whole it has both fetAL AND MATERNAL. but here they asked only abt the chorionic villi

why does it not evoke an immunologic reaction by the mother being a foreign tissue???

i know the answer.

the cells of th syncittiotrop do not express MHC. So they are not seen as foreign. cf.levinson and jawetz
