hi, my eligibilty period is may-june-july. i want to extend it. i understand i need to submit form 176 along with the fee. but when we try to extend online they say the fees n form 183-e must reach them within 25 days of ending of my exam period.i dont understand this.besides, is there any chance that they will not extend it?? coz it shudnt happen that i apply for extension n dont appear for the exam in july only to be told that it hasnt been granted and ive crossed my date!! and my credentials have been sent for verification but it will take a month more to reach ECFMG...will that be any hinderance?
anyone with any answers please spare a few moments...

Hi there,
Please dont worry & let me clear your doubts.
First of all, you are allowed to apply for an extension as soon as your eligibility periods start(i.e May in your case). Just do your requirement for the online part and submit it(i.e pay your extension fees etc). Take a printout of form 183-e ,sign it & post it via Fedex,Dhl or some reliable service so that the ECFMG gets it soon ok.This will take off some tension.

As far as the verification of credentials is concerned, you are always allowed to give your exam even if the ECFMG do not get the verified credentials before your exam , i mean this doesnt effect giving exam.

I hope it helps

thanx workup1 for ur prompt reply.
one more doubt....if i fill the application for extension online thru form 183-E, is my signature all that is required? i am a student , so isnt my dean's signature needed?

Hi there,
If you are a student, the form needs your signature,as well as your school official's signature with the school seal.
