I see the score thread and people who get >70 in UW get 99s on the test. I have only taken 13 UW tests and I have gotten 65 in the last 5 of them. My average is 54%. I recently got asked how did I managed to improve my score and I'm not really sure. HOW DOES ONE GET FROM 65 TO 70?

Dear Guayoman, try to read the question carefully, just by that I improved my score. UW questions are tricky because they give you vital info in a very subtle way.. so when you have to narrow the answer to two possible options read the question again and probably you will see that hidden detail in order to do it succesfully. My average score is 63% and have done almost half of the questions. I have most of my blocks above 60%. At the begining my results were getting under my skin, but now I consider UW more of a learning tool than an assesing tool. Im taking lots of notes. Whats the correlation of scores between 65 to 70%?

Itīs very variable. See the score thread. The thing is that people with 60s on UW have 90s on the test or 80s or failed.

a 60 is not guaranteed of passing. I guess it depends on the test you get and most important what comprises 60% in your UW. Is it Peds. or IM or OB/GYN? If it's OB/GYN and you get a test comprise mostly of that subject odds you will pass with more than 80%. Get a 60% average on all 3 subjects and you are good to go. I am getting over 60% in OB/GYN but less than 50% in peds. and about 55% in IM. Not good to go yet.

The thing is that the score correlation I see that repeats the most is >70 UW(I mean like 75-77) = 99 REAL TEST.

UW is NOT at all indicative of how good your preperation is. It will just give you more material to read. Rare diseases, rare syndromes, rare situations, rare drugs should be rarely talked. BUT is see exactly the opposite in UW. So do not depend on UW for analysing your preperation.

haha, dude everyone trips over this topic over and over and over and over and over again. from step 1 experience and from new found experience in step 2.... just use the UW questions for learning purely. of course its nice to improve and do well on them. but, if u want to see where u stand, go and do yourself the favor and take the nbme exams sold online that are designed to do this. UW = learning and practice now some people say that NBME isnt all that accurate. well i dunno, nothing is perfect. neither is the practice of medicine!

I am also very upset about my UW score. I always choose "timed, unused, all subjects, 46 questions in each block". I found some blocks are much more difficult than others. My score in each block ranges from 54% to 78%. I haven't finished the Qbank yet. So far, my cumulative score is still around 65%-69%. Yesterday, I thought I was making progress. However, I got a 54% today.

Like you said some blocks are more difficult. I have taken test and gotten 100% but a few test later I will get 20% or less. Same as you unused, timed and all. Keep studying!! Good Luck!!
