Can anyone give a CLEAR definition of Brocas aphasia? {i mean a clear definition}

I will help out It is a expressive and agrammatic aphasia by damage to the anterior of the brain comprehension in conserved

the primary auditory cortex is not affected or wernike this means that the patient can hear,undesrtand "wernike area" but not express anyway

I did not understand it too,I just put to memmory but memory is not that good you forget but once you{I}understand I dont forget

OK Ill add: its usually the L, side of the brain. {by the way nice diagrams!] as you said they understand, but its non fluent speech, telegraphic speech.Ill return with more!! Also considering that a lot of "normal " people even in their endogenous homeland can't communicate well, Id say this is important!! Addendum: its dysarthric, effortful and telegraphic speech. with poor repitition and contralateral lower face and upper limb weakness. By the way Cedric your pictures are worth 1000 words.

typically the pt in the case will have difficulty finding words and will be frustrated (coz he undertands speech but cant talk)

Thank you --As said- Cedrick had the diagrams. In laymans terms: as said patient understands, but is poor repeater." telegraphic speech" means instead of saying the word "way" patient can only say it as the word wa-wa-wa-waay!!! {thats how I understand it} Also some hi yield topics should be beaten into the ground. Cedricks diagram show areas 44 and 45 in the L inf. frontal lobe.
