Hi, Dont mean to discourage or anything, but from what I know, Emergency Medicine is very competitive and even AMGs have to struggle to scrape in. I dont mean to say "dont dream"...dream, invariably dream, but shun not reality in the process. IM is pretty much what every tom-dick-harry category IMG (this includes me) applies for, and it holds maximum promise for IMGs, as far as IMGs are concerned. (FP and PSych, I have heard, are the biggest winners though). Dont worry toooooooo much about your grad year...2005 is not thhhhhhat far away (yeah, some places have a max 3/4 yr grad limit, but many are flexible on this given your other creds are decent). Hence, bottom line: Apply for EM, coz its your dream.(try not-so-competitive programs, that is, if they exist for EM) Keem IM as your backup. Lets hope that you give us all eventually the great news that you matched inEM!, coz its always feels very good to see a dream fulfilled, no matter even if it is not our own! Goodluck!
