C is the right sequence

  #6

C, is it right?

  #7

A i think coz it is complimentary to C, the sequence revealed by electrophoresis.

discussion please

I don't know but I will keep it in mind

Musuq , I couldn't get this question. Please let us know the answer.

You have posted good questions. It will be very nice if you mention the source of the
q too as I am saving NBME for my assesment at the end of my prep and do not want to do any NBME qs at this stage. Thanx a lot.

it is A, complementary and antiparalel

synthesized strand GACAGTAACGTCGT is written in 5'-3' direction (which is normal) and template strand would be 3' CTGTCATTGCAGCA 5' , written in 5-3 direction (by convention all base sequences are written this way) would be 5' ACGACGTTACTGTC 3'.

B)

The sequencing gel, when read from bottom (shortest) to top (longest), gives the sequence of the primer extension (choice D) T G C T G C A A T G A C A G

and hence the sequence of the strand complementary to the Coding Strand being sequenced.

The CODING strand being sequenced, would be complementary and antiparallel to the Primer extension ( choice D), now just rebuild your Coding sequence and verify that the sequence you give has to be in the 5-3 direction.

Primer: 5' T G C T G C A A T G A C A G 3'

Coding: 3' A C G A C G T T A C T G T C 5' <---- follow this direction

Note that an efficient strategy would be to identify the first nucleotide of the primer extension (a T on the gel) and deduce that the last nucleotide in the Coding strand would be an A. Only choice B ends with an A.
