Hi
I am little confused about the scheduling of Step 2 CS exam.
If I send all the application material before 31st of July 2006 ,will i get the slot for one year ( say 1august 2006 to 31st july 2007).
I tried the usmle offical website but didnot find the info.
My Q are:
1. When we get the slot of 1 year, that means i can give it till 31st july 2007 right????(I know it sounds stupid,but i am confused.
2. my step 1 is in august 2006,step 2 in late November.You guys think that i will be able to apply for the 2007 match (Provided i get the visa for CS )??????(My friends say if i can give Step2 CS even in december 2006 ,i'll be able to enter the match for 2007.Is it possible)
3. In case i dont get the visa and If i decide for 2008 match, which will force me to change the CS date in late 2007 or early 2008.So my question is if my 1 year slot gets over and if i require another extension how much will i be charged?????(Like for step1 & 2 they charge 50 $ for extension of 3 months period)
I will be really grateful if someone guides me on this topic.

IT IS DIFFICULT TO GET INTO MATCH IF U WRITE IN DEC 2006,CHANCES R LESS.BUT MY ADVISE IS TO STUDY PROPERLY ,TAKE UR TIME AND WRITE CS,BECOS IT IS NOT AS EASY AS EVERYONE SAYS.,IT IS DIFFICULT EXAM

Plenty of time that you got. focus on getting high scores on Step1 . But if you want to go for 2007 MATCH. Go for Step CK first. Reviewing for this test first will help you clear a lot of doubts for CS. Then you can focus on Step 1 and somewhere a lont the line take two weeks to review for CS. That's if you want to go for 2007. If not take it easy and go as you planned.
