what does the word meatus mean??? what does the word branchial mean??? { ill answer this one-it means gill like gill of a fish but proximal to the pharynx.

meatus = opening or canal or passage...

not quite that; meatus means an opening at the entrance of a canal/passage (eg. the urinary meatus is the opening of the urethra on the surface of the penis glans
