Dear Freinds,
This visa stuff is really really confusing. I just applied for a visa, for my cs exam, and will probably be granted a b1 visa. I understood that the duration of stay can be determined at the portal of entry. Has anyone gone through this experience? Is there anything I can tell the portal officer that may allow him to give me at least 6 mo to a year. As you all know, I need to go through the matching process and the interviews, and I cant come back during this time...will anyone pleeeeeease answer?

hello summer 76, a few friends of mine went to US and at the port of entry they did not volunteer any information apart form the fact that they are there for CS exam and night also visit a few friends and just see the place before leaving as this was their first time in US... I am saying this form what my friends told me in 2005. i am not sure of the situation now.

I am also due to travel to US in July 2006, but i will e coming back in 5 days

Oh Oh ..that makes things worse -- I advice U to apply for visa 3-4 monthes early before ur CS exam
my brother is phalestinian, & because he was born in Lybia , the embassy reply delayed more than 3 monthes, so he miss his exam, so he won't has the results berore aplying to match, but he got the visa at last
my advice is to apply for visa to take CS by December, & meanwhile study any step missing
