Can you all please explain WHY you think its A or D so we can come to a final conclusion on the answer?

Surecito !

Calcified epiphysis means it has mature, since he is shorter well than his peers
maybe the bone has calcified
and they are asking about bone age so that is why I put down D

they try to no if the bone is still growing so if there is any cartilage he is still growing

exactly, as even in the growing bones there will be evidence of calcification in the epiphysis, although it won't be complete!

answer is definitely A

A. is most probable answer why?
coz presence or absence of cartilage determines the bone growth in children and absence of is means stopping linear bone growth.( remmember acromegaly the same mechanism)
