i keep learning the spirochetes and ricketssia and yet keep forgetting them...does anybody have a memory aid...ive tried questions, repeated revisions, MRS but nothing works will really appreciate any help

ok for those of u stuck in a similar situation lets try to do this the answer will be amongst the rickettsia, spirochetes, zoonosis and the likes..BACTERIOLOGY only for now

direct contact with infected animal meator aborted placentas or milk products worker in meat packing industry/ vet/ consumer of dairy product in Mexico fever usually peaks in the evening and returns to normal by morning organism??

causes a fever with skin lesions. transmitted by tick/mite. can be prevented by checking for ticks/mite in body. feeds for 6 - 10hrs ...=? feeds for over 24hrs...=?

for starters spirochetes I remember are treponema, leptospira and borrelia and rickettsia I remember are r. rickettsia-RMSF, r. akari- rickettsialpox, r. prowezikki-epidemic typhus, r. tsutsugamuchi-endemic typhus, Comments!

well tolito is right though a third organism can be added to the 'transmitted by ixodes tick' family Ehrilichia ( either dermacanter or ixodes ticks are vectors) it causes HGE (human granulocytic ehrichlosis) granulocytes are infected. the disease resembles RMSF but the typical rash duz not occur.

leptospira does not have a vector. it penetrates skin or mucous memb or is swallowed. i just remember WEIL'S disease. and i alos remember leptospira for red conjuctiva and photophobia

thanx tolito one addition to the discussion of echrichliosis ( a 'pleasant' surpise i just encountered if u dx echrichiolis in a pt presents with the characterisitc changes in the granulocytes and te clinical presentation what organism do u choose as the causative agent? Ehrlichia chaffiensis or Anaplasma pahgocytophilum yes!! ehrlichiosis is the disease cozed by both!! the former infects monos and macrophages, the latter neutrophils!! ans the latter!!
