Hi ! I have a case of a patient with important peripheral edema with hyperthyroidism at 70 yo female that, 6 mo earlier, presented to the ER with pleuro- pericarditis and tamponade. No paroxystical dyspneea, only minimal dyspneea, no angina, no palpitations. Now only peripheral edema bothers her. PE: no hepatomegaly , no JVD, 92 bpm regular, 120/70 mmHG, polynodular goiter, important peripheral edema. q: it is a relation between pericarditis and hyperthyroidism? and peripheral edema are related with congestive heart failure? Is this a diastolic heart failure? it will be OK if the treatment is only with IEC, diuretic, beta-blocker and anti-thyroid medication?
