Nasotracheal intubation is Not used in the following trauma situations:
-Apneic patients
-Patients with maxillofacial injuries or rhinorrhea
-Extremely urgent situations

....then which are the conditions in which nasotracheal intubation IS indicated?

In the field: Needle cricothyroidectomy
First choice in the ER: Orotracheal intubation
