i had done im residency from my home country.is there any way i just can get into fellowship, without having to redo the residency in im here?i plan to stay and work in usa.i heard a lot of residents who have done radiology are able to get into direct fellowships without the need to go thro the 5 yr radiology residency here in u.s.

When I was taking my CS I knew this girl from Argentina that went to US to research and ended teaching radiology (did residency in Argentina) in the University.
She told me that after 2 years as a teacher at the University she will be able to practice radiology without doing residency, and that she only needed to be ECFMG certified.
Anyway, this is still a very tough way.

yes ..it does radiology fellowships are possible in some places without a residency ..i need to find out more from who recently came here from India and is trying to get in a fellowship thru that route..but again..USMLE is a must for these programs

hi digidoc, thats what i heard too.yeah ecfmg certification is must to apply for it.but how come radiology being such a compitetive branch which is so difficult for amgs also ,how are imgs able to get into direct fellowships?will they be board certified as they have not done residency here?are they allowed to practice?may be its so coz they dont have much of patient contact.

i know lot of post grads in other feilds have to redo all over again ,one can get into direct fellowships, even if one does they cant work in u.s

how does it work for some one who completed md gen med from india?can one apply for direct fellowships and later be able to work in that feild?
