Kaplan Qbank USMLE

Hi all :

I was always a silent observer of this site , I feel I got a lot of invaluable informations from here before going to my exam. I'v just returned from my exam, and I'll try to say some facts hopefully they will benefit people preparing for their step2ck.
-First of all the exam isn't as tough as I thought from some posts here…it was not easy for me at all, but for comparison I felt Kaplan q bank is tougher than the real exam.
-most questions were about subjects with which most of us are familiar: no rare genetic diseases: at least in my exam, and this is again in contrast to q bank.
-many questions are vague not because they ask about rare diseases. but because one may feel more than one choice will be appropriate, many questions asked what is the next step , and the choices included treatment ,additional test ,or counseling to the patient. I think this questions require some clinical experience so you may instinctually direct to the right answer, may be without reading the information in any text book before.
As I said it is not an easy exam. now I don't feel comfortable about many of my answers. I hope this is only a feeling . in my step1 I felt too bad after my exam but the result was much better than what I felt. I don't know what will happen here. Whatever was the result I will let you know it once I get it.

Hi Blueprints,

Feel "so good" after reading your post! I didn't do the qbank as well as my prep for step 1 and that makes me worried. Could you share with us your prep (duration, books...) and your scores during your prep?

Thanks and good luck to you.

hi :seri and catmd04
seri : the questions are of the same long of those in the ecfmg sample CD : and may be the same of q bank questions , most questions are from IM and preventive medicine around 40% then pediatrics 20-30% then psychiatry and OB\GY , and only few from surgery .
catmd04: i used kaplan notes for IM, blueprints for the rest. my scores in practice tests :q bank :77% q book:80%.nms : 78% ,kaplan simulator :81% . didn't do UW .

hi som:
thanks for your wishes, NMS is very good as a study tool, but the type of questions is somehow different from those of the exam, to benefit from it the most, i think it will be better to carefully read the explanations of the questions u answer incorrectly.
i wish u the best in your preparation.
