Hi, zade , thank you for making a schedule for us. Can I ask a favour? Since i haven't got the Kaplan yet , could you please let me know the name for each chapter? Then I can still keep using my High-Yield. By the way, if anyone can let me share the Kaplan videos and note books, I'll be very happy to pay for that.

chipping in with gr8 advice n encouragement whenever we need it the most. thnx a lot. ur help is deeply appreciated. plz continue giving such valuable inputs.
zade, u really did ask many questions . let me try to clarify one by one...
obviously what i say is not binding to all but here is my plan...
we start with chap 1-7 n give it a first read. obviously, unless one has a photographic memory, one can't remember all d nifty details in 1st read. the idea is to have a clear idea abt all concepts so that after 1st read we don't see a ques n say " what the #$@& is this all about?" we must know the concept,if not the exact answer.
i plan to finish 1st read in abt 4 - 4 & 1/2 months. that leaves us with2-3 mths fr revision n Qbank. so u see, if we work together n don't let up, jan-07 is quite achievable.
the idea is to keep pegging away,bit by bit.
hope this clarifies al ur queries.
LILY 2008 there's no need to pay fr kap notes. they r all available free on net. i'll post links in a while. i got kaplan videos but they r HUUUUUUUUUGE files, too big to be shared with my slow connection. but i got duped n don't hav biochem,genetics n micro,immuno. u should try ebay.com fr videos. pay only thru paypal to protect against frauds. add kaplan videos to ur list n they'll mail u whenever they r up fr sale. usually r a bargain.

if all r set, lets do chapter 1-7 abt 120 pages in 3-4 days. this should test out our speed n set up a rhythm fr study. we start from 3rd july. if anyone has confusion or finds a nice question(NO NBME ONES PLEASE) post it here n we'll all try to clarify. we'll never forget topics we discuss on the forum so max out the posts. keep up the pace n visit this page daily.

hi
i am an old img , who has been procastinating 2 long and shud start studying for step1 .. thanks 2 yolanda i found dis thread and i would also love to join you all and start studying for step1 .. starting wud biochemistry would be good.. and i would suggest after biochem .. physiology would be good.. as it is very tough as well.. i am using kaplan books.. and not really any other.. as too many books make confusion :P ..
i would just like to ask when r we starting july 3rd monday?? and wats the chapters.. and is it for the 1st week or daily? .. thanks again.. and hope we all do succeed in our goals.. and thanks again yolanda..

Thanx for all your answers, I am clear on our plan now. We should be done with Chap7 by thursday. This is a tall order for me since I work full time but I am going to try. I might need till sunday but i will aim for thursday.

Guys, that was so motivational for me to read thru your support thread. I barely studied in June, due to some personal reasons just didn't have time. But for the past 2 days I am back at my desk and was very productive. I am 1995(!) IMG and doing a first read of KLN + videos, right now on PHysio lec.25. My timeline is Dec'06 or Jan'07. I can't switch to Biochem. b/c I don't want to interrupt what I started but if you let me, I'll just hang out here occasionally for the general motivation mutually. Best of luck to all of us and we will do 99!

hi friends,
about the last 24 hours, i can say one thing- BUSY,BUSY,BUSY
but still very exciting.
lots of work came out of nowhere n i m very very tired. still, i read the posts on our group again n again n chugged on... did not sleep last night n now i hope i'll be able to say tomorrow- "guys i have done 4 chapters!!" all of u have really spurred me on n inspired me. u see, i m a fresh grad & m really in awe of the efforts u all r making.
my main problem was that i just could not stick to a plan but this group has cured that. i think now i have more focus n determination than i have ever had in my life. thank you, thank you all. lets stick together n prod each other to success constantly.
to become a reality,every great ambition needs some sacrifices, n its upto us to make them.
lets push for all we r worth n stick to our schedule, may be even try to beat it!!!!
for the time being.... i gotta get some sleep now. GL to all

I just finished chap1 from kaplan notes.My very first read.It was so confusing!!You know its been a while since I read biochem and I am soooo weak in that subj.here is problem.Which book should I refer to understand some concepts.I am very confused about Nucleic acids.Also,where do we do questions from???????
And,how do we what is important to read.
Can somebody answer my quries.

Hi everyone!
Coolsuch, I agree with Dama, Lippincot's Biochem is the book to use if you have any questions, if you still read kaplan and lippincot and you don't get the concepts I would recommend to go to your native language textbook that you used in med school (I don't know if English is your first language), this might help you grasp concepts, aldo I don't recomend you to do this all the time because it would be very time consuming, but just as a pick to clarify some basic concepts.
I will also start reading today, to keep up with you guys, I plan to do 30 pages a day, because I work fulltime, and I know that I can't read more than 30 pages a day, because even do it is the first reading, I don't like to read it and don't understand a single thing, because that way I think I am just wasting time, so I rather read slowly but throughly and understand everything. So that my second and third reading or the review can be much faster and just a review.
By doing 30 pages a day I will make the 1-7 chapter deadline by Thursday, so I will keep in touch to see how it goes.
Regarding questions, well you can use qbook, I have NMLS review also for questions, Coolsuch you can also use first aid after reading a couple of chapters you can look for the info in first aid to see what is high yield of that topic.
Well, I will say goodbye right now, because if I keep writting won't have time to complete first two chapters right now...so everyone take care, good luck and let's go for it, don't get discouraged if you find that you are reading something strange jeje, just keep on reading.

@coolsuch...i havent done them myself but alot of ppl on the forum suggeted the kaplan dvd for biochem...mayb u should check those out too... otherwise lippincot will do fine too...
