As for my progress, i am still on biochemistry but progressing.As I said before ,2 more weeks and then my vacation is all onverrrrrrrrrr.I hope and pray i can get back to MLE mode again and keep up at it.Guys/girls form our group I need your constant support and motivation as you have always been providng.

Where r u in ur studies now? I am about done with genetics, closing in on chapter 6 and would like to know what u did next or what is the order of things. Micro is not my cup of tea and I was thinking of doing immuno but I am willing to follow the group, it has to be done one way or another. Genetics for me was not easy, I might start with that in my 2nd read. By the way can u also tell me what books u r using for micro and immuno.
When is the next discussion.

lets evaluate the question...asking for proceesing and we all know that RNA processing(modification) takes place in nucleus before it is sent ot cytoplasm for translation....
3 steps(process) takes place----
mRNA is given metylguanosine cap at 5end to protect from degradation and helps in binding to ribosome in cytoplasm-----
and a poly A tail to help in sailing all thru to the cytoplasm
and 3rd is REmoval of introns
so all option A -D r wrong where D is a TRUE DISTRACTOR
option left E seems rt ans..!

now, i hav discussed abt our discussions at length with all of us n this is d schedule that seems to work fr all
day of week.........topics to cover..........approx time
monday.............2 chap at least..........30 mins to 1 hour
wednesday.........2 chap at least.........30 mins to 1 hour
thursday......3-4 chap+MCQs fr week's topics......lengthy,2-3 hours
TIME FR ALL DAYS 1PM EST
we cn modify it to suit any future change in schedules.
so next discussion is wednesday,aug 9, 1PM EST. chap 2 n 3

keepgoing, abt d gene expression Q, i think lily n zade were right n i messed it up in confusion u r right.. expression= dna--rna--prot. now this'll occur whenever there's euchromatin in d cell, i.e. throughout interphase. it'll stop only when DNA is condensed as chromosomes in M phase... this is given( as zade pointed out) on kap notes pg-4 below d table.

Eventough I was not able to make it for the whole thing, I really understood telomeres. Wow!! that was great.
Well I am still struggling with micro, still at the beginning of chapter 2, will try to accomplish more this weeken. The summer is almost over and my kids are bugging me to something over the weekend. Will try to mix pleasure and duty.

well i read 9th aug discussion and i wanted to give my 2 cents there regarding DNA replication "lagging strand"....well as we all know each strand of DNA runs in opposite direction(anti-parallel) and one big challenge for replication is that polymerase doesnt have to work in 5---3 direction only but also in the direction of replicating fork...................so see the problem for polymerase!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SO HOW CAN HE MANAGE TO KEEP SYNTHESE other ANTIPARALLEL STARND WHICH IS JUZ OPPOSITE TO PROCEEDING FORK(whose direction is away from replication fork))????????
answer---so polymerase thinks of building the lagging strand using many primers(okazaki fragments)so that he can overcome this problem and keep the antiparallel strand moving in fork direction....(remember or see fig in books every time primer is added at 5 end in lagging strand )
hope this helps u all if not then in next discussion i will try to explain u better way wen u all will be asking questions here i hv written down how i understand...if i m wrong in concepts u all are welcome to correct me....!

Just a quick note to say that you all are doing GREAT buddies!!......the discussions are simply WONDERFUL & you all are definetely working hard.
I would also like to thank New_lost, Coolsuch, Zade especially for always sending me the valued discussions & helping me everytime.
I told you guys that i am doing Anatomy, but somehow with the busy schedule i was not giving it justified time so i am doing Physio right now. Will be starting with Anatomy on the 18 . I hope i find some of us who can get me through it. otherwise i will be all on my own.

WOW!!! i m posting after a long time!!! as a matter of fact, i stay in touch with all of u over msngr so just didnt think of posting here.
abt my progress in micro, i thought that ws my strong subject but man!! ws i wrong all those bugs really managed to bug me!! struggled a lot but now i see d light at d end of d tunnel. will start immuno soon.
@focus, d good news is that my deadline fr finishing immuno n starting anat is 18th n i m looking good fr it.
but d bad news is that i m gonna b on call duty in casuality fr 15 nights in a row starting 16th august. that means no net access at night which synchronises wth our group's discussion time. i'll try to manage somehow by dividing duties with other interns n lets see if it works.
keepgoing- check ur mail. i replied to u. micro's tough fr me too. just keep going is all i cn say

Thanks, Indidoc. And many thanks to you all for remember me and for forwarding the discussion to me. I am going to relocate because job issure in a month, so I am crazy busy recently. I have a question here, how could I get the ECFMG idenfication number? Do I have to apply for the exam to get that? When I start appy for the exam, how can I control my test schedule? I means can I set my test time as late as I want? or if I start to apply for that I have to set a test date within 6 months or so?

Hi everyone,
how are the studies coming up?Not many people posting here thses days.Where areyou all? I need that constant motivation guys /gals.
As for me ,I felt low today as my parents went back to India and i get back to reading.I am so overwhelmed lately and confused.I am doing my MPHand would soon have to submit thesis proposal .I have to take up a job too,only for 4hr/daily.I am so confused how do I handle USMLE and MPH and a job. I am nt sure how to go about it or whther i can handle it.I am going through a lot of turmoil and am still adjusting to the system in USA.I dont know if an of you is in same situation as I am in.Can somebody suggest.I know there are moms out there who are handling this so well .Can somebody pls advice.I am getting slower day by day and at times think of going off .

Okay thats not a big problem the only thing u have to worried abt is that UR Thesis Proposal cos these things really drain a lot energy reserves both financially n physicallly so i would suggest go back to the College n Sort Out ur MPH schedule n then figuure a place to work ( cos this country u gotta work ) when u r done with that then its all downhill all u have to do is take it slow n easy. First things First MPH conditioning . Condition urself with the ur MPH schedule then further accomadate a job then go for the toughest part Thesis while side by side u can go ahead with USMLE
I mean take BABY steps dont rush things n get dragged into a bind. Ur target for Step 1 in Dec is a bit hurrying it up. take ur time n Remember Slow n Steady Always wins the Race
Now coming to the most Important Part
U better not think of Abadoning us Captain Cos YE R THY CAPTAIN OR ELSE Arghrrr.....
