I would say instead of doing it this way, just work harder. postpone the test and get better scores for the next match cause you probably, actually for sure won't get any interviews. sad but true!

Very hard to get interviews without a step one score in your file. Good luck

Hi bbb, what if her schedule was exactly the same, but instead of doing step 2 ck first, she would do step 1 first and ck in December, would that help, would you have time for match 2007, or maybe the question is would applying with that time frame for the match 2007 be wise?? Thank you, I am asking because I am in a similar situation. Thank you.

Yolanda - I am not a doc, I haven't taken the tests. Been a coordinator since 1988. When is your ECFMG certificate going to be complete? Some programs won't interview without that because they have spent time and money interviewing candidates and then they can't get their certification - it's rough on the program. I will say, and continue to repeat - apply as soon as you can, with as complete of an application as you can. Good luck to all.

Thank you very much bbb, I haven't done any step, I've scheduled step 1 for September, not sure I will make the deadline, maybe I will do it in November, I rather prepare and get a good great, and submit my complete application in time for match 2008, I didn't want to wait another year since I am barely in the 5 year gap post-graduation, but I have to be realistic and it is June, and I don't think I can study for a 99 in 3 months, have my grade by late October and apply to residency with just step 1 and in late October or November, so sadly I've realized that it is better for me to wait for 2008. Thank you again, you are very helpfull, hope you keep screening this forum, bye Yolanda

You can finish step1, 2ck, and 2cs before December but the chance to be interviewed is limited. But you can join in the match. DON'T GIVE UP.

I know how hard is to be out of work... if you thing is better to try do it!!! the worst thing is that is not going to work and you will have to wait until 2008 (anyway is your plan B) cheers

My boyfriend's Step 1 score will be available by last week of October. He is then planning to apply on the first week of November to Family Medicine residencies with his Step 1 and CS scores. He will be sitting for CK on November 20. Do you reckon he will be called for interviews? Why do programs accept applications until December-January if they fill all of their interview slots by October-November?
