A 61-year-old man presents with reduced exercise capacity and resting dyspnea. The patient also complains of recent hoarseness. Auscultation discloses a high-pitched opening snap followed by a low-frequency decrescendo diastolic murmur, and finally a loud S1. The patient’s history reveals acute rheumatic fever when the patient was 30 years old. He says that his dyspnea has significantly worsened since his last examination 5 months ago. Compared to 5 months ago, this patient most likely has a(n) A. decreased interval between A2 and the opening snap B. decreased peak left atrial V wave pressure C. increased period of isovolumetric relaxation D. increased slope of the left atrial Y descent E. increased systolic blood pressure
