I took step2CS in Houston last month (may 20) and I have just done the Oasis Trick and got the red screen. The center is very organized, proctors are very professional and I don't have anything to complain. The SPs I have got were very easy to understand but 3 or 4 of them were very apatic, so don't became nervous if you get a SP that acts like this, it does not mean you are in trouble. I have practiced all the 43 cases of UW with my wife (she has a very good english) and it helped me asking the questions naturally without having to think in one language and then translate to english. I also got used to do the exam in 15 minutes so I finished all my cases on time. Actually I finished two cases at the same time I heard the bell. The patient note is also very important and I wrote PNs for all the first aid cases, using the information, then writting the PN and comparing to the book`s PN. I also wrote timed PN for all the UW cases and it really helped me in the real exam. This is my experience and I hope can help people preparing to take the exam. Good luck

Hy Karyosome, I studied for 6 weeks, but I was working full time, so I had 2 hours a day. I read FA, then I wrote PN for FA cases. The last 2 weeks I prepared doing the UW cases with my wife (3 or 2 cases/day). The important thing I did was to write down some possible D/D for the complain before knocking. This is helpful when you choose the questions to ask SP.

congrats.there are 29 cases in ist aid, does u.w has more.are the cases overlapping in 1st aid and u.w?is time a big issues esp if one gets cns case?as examination takes more time.is it possible that we obtain history while we do relevent examination to save time?initially when you go in do they give us a paper to roughly jottdown, positive findings?is the patient accent difficult to understand? lastly those who take exam in june their results will be out only in aug.so if at that time a person dosent clear and want to retake, will slots be available, coz as of now dates are only available in dec2006.this is kind of scary.

Thank you djyoti. IMG05: I think UW is very helpful and complementary to FA. The cases are developed in such a way that it is easier then FA to practice with a friend, and it has more cases to practice. Some cases are similar but this is not bad at all. Time is a big issue. You have to practice to suit your questions and PE to the time you have. I had some CNS cases and I focused my PE on CNS examination. Only did heart and abdominal exam after CNS exam and if I had time (I tried not to compromise my counseling). You can still ask questions while doing PE.

Today I finally got the result in mail. The score was reported on june 21 and took 19 days to get here. Fortunately I have got the ECFMG certificate last week so I didn`t get worried. A lot of examinees get worried when their scores are late, thinking it can be a bad sign. It is not. The mail is very slow, and one solution is to try the oasis trick to low the anxiety. Good luck to everyone.
