So I was reading in robbins that heart cells secrete ANP which is good for the heart during heart failure because it causes diuresis and natriuresis, how does that help the heart during CHF ?

Volume over load in the heart is a stimulus that secrete ANP and then ANP causes diuresis and natriuresis....

in congestive heart failure , the heart is not working efficiently because of which there is more blood in the heart and by reducing the volume of blood that is by diuresis the preload decreases and thus helps release some tension on the failing heart.
