Took step 1 a few days ago. My thoughts about the exam .... 1. Not a difficult exam if you have had good prep with the help of kaplan, goljan and FA. I dont think you need more than these. 2. Lengh of the questions was just right, though there were a few lengthy questions (approx.. 5 questions on the whole) 3. There were around 2-3 questions which I never heard of, so I just had to guess the answer. 4. Time is manageable. I skipped the lengthy questions and those which I thought needed more time to asnwer and came back at the end of the block to answer them. this way i could manage time quite well. 5. I think that it is better to read the question completely without first looking at the options. 6. Some (may be many) people may not agree but I think, if you are a nervous and panicky kind of person, I would suggest going through the tutorial as it allows you to cool your nerves down by the time you start your exam. Goodluck to all those who are going to take step 1!!

Thank you arrhythmia and Hilfiger. I prepared for 2 months. 10-12 hrs/d. My resources were Kaplan videos and material, Goljan audio and material and FA. First I went through kaplan videos, which took me approx 3 weeks to complete and then started going through the books as well as did questions from Qbank..100 q/day. Though I bought FA 2 weeks before the exam, I could read it only once. Completed Qbank 2 days before the exam. Honestly I did not think my preparation was good enough for a decent score though I had reasonable scores on NBME1(530..3 weeks before the step1)and Kaplan Qbank scores(75%cumulative, 100%questions completed). I studied the day before exam as well as on my way to the prometric, which helped me to get 2 questions right. I know that some people suggest you not to study the day before exam but I think its hard not to study, especially when you feel that your preparation is not adequate. Hope this helps.
