is Pyruvate Decarboxylase one of the three enz of pyruvate dehydrogenase ? Pyruvate decarboxylase (E1), along with dihydrolipoyl transacetylase (E2) and dihydrolipoyl dehydrogenase (E3), plays an important role in the production of energy for the cell. Together, these three components make up the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex (PDC)--an enzyme complex that converts the product of glycolysis, pyruvate, to acetyl coenzyme A, which serves as a starting point for the Citric Acid or TCA cycle.
