real brief, i'm tired

I just took the exam

Extremely high yield: drug side effects, descriptions of the way that tumors look on a cellular level, abdominal and brain imaging, circle of willis and all the details, branchial pouches, situations involving alcoholics presenting in all various ways in the emergency room, how to talk about sex wtih someone who seeks contraception, anatomy of the upper limb, pharm (ANS drugs were heavy, lots of antiobiotic mechanisms in very specific detail, some cancer drugs but not as much as i expected, didn't get much on antipsychotics or antiepileptics, there was a bunch on side effects of antidepressants, also some on drug , genetics testing and transmission, also there were multiple blood smears

really just go heavy on general path, there was a very big focus on all types of cellular response to different pathogens (viral, bacterial, etc.) and a lot less on symptoms and asking for a diagnosis, a bunch of histology and gross pics with only vague details describing them so you have to be familiar

first aid is NOT sufficient for the level of pathology youll get but if you really have it down then you can use it for most other things, preferrably use something with pictures, because there are multiple pictures on the exam

all in all, i found it more difficult feeling than the nbme exams, which i got a 500 and 530 on 2 weeks and 3 days before the test respectively

good luck, you'll all be fine

hi hamburgerface,

i took my examon 11th.....what u r saying is correct.......but the thing is i did not get any of the things what u said in ur exam....so tht means....eveybody has his share of questions.......though in general i got many pictures ....but not blood smear.....yes cryptosporodiosis picture........and many other things....not many antibiotics.....but second messengers were there...may be 12 or so questions.....

brain slices...were there for offering.....and angiogram too....i had a hard time with Molecular biology...and they cornered me on tht....tht made me feel exam was tough....but other subjects were okay......i did not like the graphs too....

anyway....i have the same feeling as u r having tht...probably exam is much more difficult now a days...Any thoughts about it?

all the best for the result....

bye

i thought this was much more difficult than the nbme practice exams, though there were many similar types of questions, so I still think they are a better correlation than q bank to the actual test...

im not sure how everything is scored, but i think there is some type of adjustment based on how others do with the same material, i definitely had like ~15 or so checked per section, higher than on any of the nbme usually that i did, but that may have just been a product of my hyperawareness of the situation

i definitely wish i walked out of there feeling like it was easier, but hopefully with the curve or whatever it will all work out

Good luck to you!

Good luck to both of you.

1-Does they Use the new FRED software for the exam?

2-were the Q long sentence?

3-were there some easy Q? or all they were difficult

4- what about calculation ? simple or difficult?

please tell us about these Q .

thanks

MAY U BOTH GET GOOD SCORE

i didn't have many calculations to do, and those i had to do were not that difficult at all

there were some longer questions, but i didn't think there were that many, mostly 2-3 sentences, though there were definitely some longer, im sure it varies, in some situations i guess it would have helped to read the last sentence first thing but i wouldn't recommend that, it doesn't take too long to read the questions

there were some easy qs for sure, but don't rush through them, i can think of one mistake i made where i didn't finish reading the question and saw something that i thought was obvious and picked it and in retrospect i just clicked the wrong stupid answer, i was in no rush for time and that is inexcusable

just for my own reassurance, does anyone know of anyone who left the exam knowing they made a few dumb mistakes for sure as well as having a difficult exam and still do pretty well?

GOOD LUCK for your score

thanks for posting your experience. if you scroll down other people's experiences you find out that most people had a feeling like they had messed up. one guy/girl said s/he just roamed the streets of chicago after the exam and guess what the score was...99.

so keep your chin up.

all the best.

just got my scores... 234/95, so im obviously happy, this was higher than any of my practices and my qbank, which i thought were easier than the actual exam

so hopefully this will help people realize that even if you don't feel good after the test, things can work out ok

I FELT HORRIBLE after my test, and sat remembering all my dumb mistakes i made, but it worked out ok....hard test forms can be good for you i guess
